The Caffeineid

Welcome to the world according to a skeptic.

The piece you are about to read was born of an original paper that asked “what would occur if caffeine was declared an illegal substance?”

As I attempted to answer what was originally an innocent query, I realized that every answer came from the interests of a powerful entity within the United States and were not at all related to caffeine itself. 

 

What I realized is that in the end, the resolutions that we painstakingly pound through congress, and the arguments we use to justify them, bear little resemblance to the issue experienced by the ordinary American.

I attempt to capture this utilizing the classic epic format, the very real perspective of the very fictional Bacchus, and a solid amount of allusions to Greek literature.
